The Gospel Is Not Complicated
By David J. Stewart | June 2020
2nd Corinthians 11:3-4, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”
Dear reader, the Gospel is very simple. Eternal life is a free gift from God, because His only begotten Son Jesus already paid for it with His blood. Salvation is free, easy and so simple. Don't ever let anybody tell you that it is hard, difficult and takes a lifetime to know that you have eternal life. Read for yourself some of the heretical things that false preachers are saying...
Pastor John MacArthur heretically says:
“Don’t believe anyone who says it’s easy to become a Christian. Salvation for sinners cost God His own Son; it cost God’s Son His life, and it’ll cost you the same thing...” [emphasis added] –Dr. John MacArthur, 'Grace To You,' an updated quote from his book 'Hard To Believe', page 93
Dr. Steve Pettit heretically says:
“You can't just speak about getting saved, and you accepted Christ, and then that's it! There is a justification; There is a sanctification; There's ultimately a glorification, and though there are three parts, they are all part of the whole, and you cannot separate them. In order for you to qualify for the award, you have to get into the race, you have to stay in the race, and you have to finish the race. If you want to win, you have to run to the end; and winning in the Christian life is everything, because if you lose—if you don't finish—you lose everything—you lose your SOUL. And so, the Christian race is the life of faith that begins, is run, and is finished when we cross over into Heaven!” [emphasis added] —Dr. Steve Pettit (“What Does It Mean To Run 'The Race'?” - 11:34)
Evangelist Ray Comfort heretically says:
“The forgiveness that is in Jesus Christ is conditional upon ‘repentance towards God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ’ (Acts 20:21). It is a gift that God offers to everyone, but individuals must receive it by repenting and trusting in Christ, or they will remain dead in their sins. No one has Biblical grounds to continue in sin, assuming that they are safe just because Jesus died on the cross. See 1 John 3:4-6.” [Emphasis added] —'THE EVIDENCE BIBLE,' by Ray Comfort, pg. 1513; 2003, Bridge-Logos Publishers, Orlando, Florida
Seventh-Day Adventist false prophetess, Miss Ellen G. White (1827-1915) made this heretical statement:
The sanctification now gaining notice in the religious world carries a spirit of self-exaltation and a disregard for the law of God that identify it as foreign to the Bible. Those who teach it claim that sanctification happens instantly, and by this means, through “faith alone” they reach perfect holiness. “Only believe” they say, “and the blessing is yours.” No further effort is supposed to be required from the receiver. At the same time they deny the authority of God's law, claiming that they are released from any obligation to keep the commandments. But is it possible to be holy without coming into harmony with the principles that express God's nature and will?
The Word of God testifies against this traplike doctrine of faith without works. It is not faith that claims God's favor without complying with the conditions on which He grants mercy. It is presumption. (See James 2:14-24.) [emphasis added] —Ellen G. White, 'The Great Hope,' pp. 48-49; ©1979, Thomas Nelson, Inc.
What theological fools! What religious con men (and woman)! You better believe you are “SAFE” if you have received Jesus as your personal Savior. You mean I can get saved, and go out and live like the Devil? That's exactly what I am saying, because that is what the Bible teaches. Romans 5:20, “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:” Every believer falls IN GRACE, never FROM GRACE. The only way a person can fall from grace is to reject the saving Gospel altogether! No believer has ever fallen from God's saving grace. The stars may one day fall from the heavens, but no born-again believer will ever lose God's salvation! Ray Comfort, Steve Pettit and John MacArthur all teach the same junk theology of Ellen G. White, that more is required than saving faith to get to Heaven! Sadly, these false teachers are all going to spend eternity burning in the fires of Hell. Please don't follow them there!!!

The Gospel Is Synonymous With Eternal Security
Acts 13:39, “And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” Boy, I love that Scripture! All that believe are JUSTIFIED FROM ALL THINGS!!! If you are saved, God only sees the perfect righteousness of His dear only begotten Son, when He looks at you judicially. Salvation is easy. John MacArthur is a lying false prophet to say that becoming a Christian is not easy. Steve Pettit says you cannot know for certain that you are saved, until you finish the race and arrive in Heaven.
That is a complicated false gospel of fear, worry and uncertainty. We do not serve a capricious (unpredictable) God who monitors our behavior to see how we're doing. God made everyone a PROMISE of eternal life, to “save them that believe” (Titus 1:2; 1st Corinthians 1:21). Mr. Pettit was an evangelist for 35 years before being hired as the new president of Bob Jones University in 2014. The man is not even a born-again Christian! No man is saved who makes heretical statements like he does!
On March 30th, 2020 at BJU, Dr. Pettit scared 2,700 students that if they keep lying they'll go to Hell. I'm not kidding! The Bible doesn't say that “perpetual liars” go to Hell, it says “all liars” go to Hell. How many banks do you have to rob to be a robber? Just one, right! How many lies do you have to tell to be a liar? That's right, just one. Even one sin is enough to send you to Hell for all eternity. I can prove my theology with the inspired Word of God. James 2:10, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” Dr. Steve Pettit does not understand the imputed righteousness of God. A man is saved by faith alone, so that works are not necessary to be saved (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5). The life you choose to live has absolutely NOTHING to do with your eternal destiny.
So it doesn't matter how much BJU students lie, if they are born-again they are safe in the everlasting arms of the heavenly Father. Mr. Pettit evidently doesn't believe that habitual sinners are really saved. If that be the case none of us are saved, because we are all “perpetual sinners.” The idea that a Christian may go into sin for a season, but they will straiten up, is of the Devil. We know biblically that a just man falleth seven times, yet riseth again, but he falls seven times (Proverbs 24:16). The number “seven” denotes an endless amount of times. A Christian will sin again and again until they get to Heaven (Romans 7:14-25). Even unsaved criminals try to live right when they are released from prison, so they won't go back to prison. Does that make them righteous? No, of course not.
So you cannot look at a person's works to know if they are saved or not, and to lay such a heavy burden upon sinners, demanding that they commit to “turn from your sin,” is a very complicated counterfeit plan of salvation. We all sin. The gift of eternal life that God offers, is conditional only upon a person receiving Christ's sacrifice on the cross as payment for their sins, believing that He raised up from the dead the third day. Even a small child can do that. Unfortunately, Mr. MacArthur's plan of salvation is so complicated that he says there is no such thing as a childhood conversion! Do you see how Pastor MacArthur perverts the free grace of God?
“More people will die and burn in Hell, because they're trusting
too much!”

Getting Saved Is As Easy As Getting On An Airplane
As an illustration, consider getting on an airplane. Let's say you're going from Kansas City to Los Angeles. All you have to do to get to Los Angeles is trust the pilot enough to get on the plane. Likewise, all the faith you need to be saved, is just enough to trust Jesus to believe the 'Good News' that He died on the cross for your sins, was buried, and resurrected three days later from the dead for the justification of your faith (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). It doesn't matter how you behave on the airplane. You may fight with other passengers, throw your meal on the floor, insult the stewardesses, and even land wearing handcuffs, but you'll still end up in Los Angeles no matter what happens on the plane. I love that illustration. I got it from Pastor Jack Hyles today, while listening to his awesome MP3 sermon titled: 'The Way To Heaven.'
Taking our illustration further, according to Steve Pettit's damnable corrupt theology, if you don't behave on the plane you won't make it to Los Angeles! According to Ray Comfort's damnable corrupt theology, you cannot consider yourself “safe” just because you accepted a free plane ticket to Los Angeles. Accordion to John MacArthur's damnable corrupt theology, it's not “easy” to accept a free ticket and get on a plane, much more is required of passengers to get to Los Angeles. Do you see how doctrinally flawed these preachers are, leading people into the fires of Hell with themselves?
Dr. Bob Jones Sr. (1883-1968) rightly understood that eternal life is a gift that comes wrapped in the package of Jesus! Amen and amen! That is the simplicity that is in Jesus Christ! Galatians 3:26, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Beware dear friend of well-meaning deceived preachers, who pull on the same rope as the Devil by complicating the Gospel truth of free grace! God doesn't save DO GOODERS, He only saves DO TRUSTERS!!! You and I are needy SINNERS, and Jesus is the blessed crucified and risen SAVIOR! It's that simple. Jesus Christ paid your debt of sin, and mine too, and offers to us eternal life in exchange for merely trusting Him. Simply make the decision to rely upon what Jesus did at Calvary to pay for your sins, believing that died on the cross, was buried, and physically resurrected three days later from the dead (1st Corinthians 15:1-4). If that 'Good News' (Gospel) is your only hope for the forgiveness of your sins and eternal life, then you are now and forever saved! John 6:47, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

Romans 16:17-18, “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.”
