Both Sides Of The Bible Inspiration Debate Can't Be Right
By David J. Stewart | March 2020
Psalms 12:6-7, “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”
Both Sides of The Bible Inspiration Debate May Be, But One Must Be, Wrong!
I am now watching a very interesting 12 hour documentary by historian film producer, Ken Burns, on 'The American Civil War.' It is heartbreaking history! I just heard a quote in the film by President Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865) that caught my attention...
“In great contests [battles], each party claims to act in accordance with the will of God—both may be, but one must be, wrong—God cannot be for and against the same thing at the same time!” —President Abraham LincolnWhy did Mr. Lincoln say that? It is because both the Northern Union and the Southern Confederacy claimed to be doing “God's will” in fighting The Civil War (1860-1865). Both President Jefferson Davis in the south, and President Abraham Lincoln in the north, said they were doing “God's will.” As Mr. Lincoln wisely points out, that is IMPOSSIBLE! When two opposing parties, who are warring against each other, claiming to be doing God's will, obviously someone is WRONG! That is why Abraham Lincoln made that powerful statement!
Likewise, there are literally HUNDREDS of English Bible revisions today, but ONLY one Bible stands alone, the inspired King James Bible!!! If you are using any of the modern Bible versions, they all share the same corruptions, omissions and prejudice against the deity of Jesus Christ, Godhead and simplicity of the Gospel! Obviously, they cannot all be God's Word! Someone is wrong! Just as President Lincoln wisely observed, so also I clearly see that it is impossible for both sides of the Bible issue debate to be correct! Both sides may be, but one must be, wrong! No one who supports the modern Bible perversions based upon the Greek translation of Brooke Westcott and Fenton Hort is a Christian fundamentalist!
An Example Of Gross Theological Perversion From Mark 1:15
Take for example Mark 1:15. Here is a comparison between a few different Bible revisions. Notice carefully that whereas the King James Bible simply says to “repent ye” and believe the Gospel, the modern PERversions falsely require the reader to “turn from your sins” to be saved...
KING JAMES BIBLE (KJB) — Mark 1:15, “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” [emphasis added]NEW LIFE VERSION (NLV) - Mark 1:15, “He said, “The time has come. The holy nation of God is near. Be sorry for your sins, turn from them, and believe the Good News.” [emphasis added]EASY-TO-READ VERSION (ERV) — Mark 1:15, “He said, “The right time is now here. God’s kingdom is very near. Change your hearts and lives, and believe the Good News!” [emphasis added]LIVING BIBLE (TLB) - Mark 1:15, “At last the time has come!” he announced. “God’s Kingdom is near! Turn from your sins and act on this glorious news!” [emphasis added]Dear reader, the word “repent” in Mark 1:15 is a verb which simply means, “TO THINK DIFFERENTLY.” It does NOT mean “to turn from sins,” nor does it mean “to be sorry.” One of the best explanations of repentance I've ever heard is from Alexander Marshall (1846-1928). He wrote a Gospel tract in the 1920's called: 'GOD'S WAY OF SALVATION,' in which Brother Marshall addresses the question:
“I HAVE NOT REPENTED ENOUGH”What do you mean? “I am not sorry enough for my sins.”And if you were very sorry, would God be more willing to save you than He is now? “I think so.”Then you are completely mistaken.“But does it not say, unless we repent we shall perish?”Yes; but what do you think is the Scriptural significance of “repentance”? If you say “sorrow for sin” you are wrong. It does not mean sorrow for sin: it means a CHANGE OF MIND (Matt. 21:29). This change will doubtless produce sorrow; but sorrow and repentance are two very different things (Heb. 12:17. margin, and II Cor. 7:9). When God calls on you to “repent, and believe the Gospel,” He wishes you to lay aside your wrong thoughts, and believe the glad tidings that He proclaims to you. Formerly you may have imagined that you were required to feel very sorry before being saved. Change your mind. You may have supposed you must first “feel” some great change in order to know you were saved. Change your mind. First believe in God's great love to you, as revealed in His gospel, and you will KNOW that you have eternal life (John 5:24).Yes, that is excellent. Mr. Marshall is 100% correct! Yet, some unlearned and/or heretical person changed his tract, completely removing the preceding section on repentance from the work. Marshall plainly says that sinners are saved by BELIEVING THE GOSPEL, that is, he says, “to lay aside your wrong thoughts [Repentance], and believe the glad tidings [Gospel] that He proclaims to you.”
One of my favorite preachers is Dr. Al Lacy (1933-2016), who says:

As I just showed you, Pastor Alexander gets repentance 100% right. Here is a helpful article called: 'The Great Meaning Of Metanoia' (the Greek noun for the word “repent” in the Bible). With this important truth in mind, it should be obvious to you how corrupt, wicked and dangerous the modern Bible revisions are, and the woeful threat they pose to churches and people everywhere).
