When I See The Blood
by Pastor Max D. Younce
1st Peter 1:18-19, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
This series shows that the sacrifices made to cover sin, all through the Old Testament, required the shedding of the blood of an innocent victim, because they were a shadow, or type, which looked forward to the time when our Savior would come to die as the perfect sacrifice. He would be “the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)
If you are depending on water baptism, church membership, confirmation, communion, or any type of good work to get you to Heaven, they will be rejected like the bloodless offering of Cain’s sacrifice. When God told Moses, at the First Passover, to take the blood of the Passover Lamb...and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses... (Ex. 12:7), he did not tell them to take a bucket of water out and wash the door! And in Verse 13, God said, “...when I see the blood, I will pass over you.”
People say, “I don’t want to hear about the blood. I don’t like that “old slaughter-house religion.” How important is “the blood?” It was the price required to purchase our Salvation. We should look in eternal gratitude to “Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2)

*Beware of the doctrine of “Lordship Salvation,” which has become very popular in the churches. This is the false teaching that since God did something for me, I ought to do something for Him, and along with that comes salvation. That is not the Gospel my friend. That is not how you get saved. In true salvation, God does ALL the saving! Our only part in salvation is to trust upon what Christ did on the cross to pay for our sins...
