Kindly, Dr. John MacArthur is a deceiver and is himself deceived.
2nd Timothy 3:13, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse,
deceiving, and being deceived.” In other words, put one way, in the
last days false prophets will expose false prophets! Mr. MacArthur
refutes Mormonism as a religious cult, and yet he has been deceived
himself by a false Gospel!
In his YouTube video sermon titled, “Is Faith + Works a False Gospel?,” Pastor John MacArthur says:
“Recently I had an interesting meeting. I had a meeting with the two leading theologians of Mormonism. They came down under the authority of the Seven Apostles of Mormonism from BYU [Brigham Young University]. Their trip was funded by BYU to meet with me. And the reason they wanted to meet with me, is they had been reading my books, and they find many things in my books that intrigue them, that help them understand the Bible, and with which they agree. Well, I was really kind of peaked about this meeting and I thought it's pretty curious to have the Mormons come and meet with you, and say they agree with your theology! ...They came and they said, 'We want to tell you, we've read your books, and we've even taken one of your books—Faith Works (The most definitive work that I've ever written on the issue of salvation)—And we've made it a text at BYU.' And I was pretty shocked by all of this, and so we began to talk a little bit, and they told me about all the things they agree with and the LORDSHIP OF CHRIST!...” [emphasis added]

If you listen to the entire sermon, you'll hear Mr. MacArthur say that he told these two leading Mormon theologians that they differ on three major issues: They have another God, another Christ, and another Gospel. Yes, that is true! However, Mr. MacArthur himself also has another “another Gospel,” which is why the Mormons agree with his false views on the role of the Lordship of Christ in salvation.
Interestingly, MacArthur exposes the pseudo-Christian cults, while being a cult leader himself! Talk about Satan casting out Satan! Mr. MacArthur's Lordship Salvation is a perverse Gospel. The Devil doesn't care if people believe the Mormon's perverse Gospel, or John MacArthur's perverse Gospel, just so long as they don't believe THE GOSPEL!
In his disturbing book, “HARD TO BELIEVE,” Dr. MacArthur says:
“Don’t believe anyone who says it’s easy to become a Christian. Salvation for sinners cost God His own Son; it cost God’s Son His life, and it’ll cost you the same thing...” [emphasis added]
Cost? Where in the Holy Bible are we taught that the gift of eternal life will cost us anything? Mormons share a similar view as MacArthur on repentance...
That is NOT what “repentance” means in the Scriptures. Bible
repentance is simply “a change of mind,” period. Mormons errantly embellish
repentance to mean being sorry, and making an effort (works) to repair the
damage our sins have caused, and to forsake our sinful behavior (works).
According to Mormon theology, God will only save you if you make an effort
to cease from sinning.
Ray Comfort and Mormons Agree On Repentance
This heresy is exactly what Evangelist Ray Comfort
teaches, who actually uses the phrase “LIVING A LIFESTYLE” while
witnessing to a woman passenger on an airplane. In the following YouTube
video clip, look at the BIG LIE Evangelist Ray Comfort tells this poor
deceived woman. Tragically, like the Mormons do, Ray says that
“repentance” means “LIVING A LIFESTYLE THAT PROVES THE REALITY OF YOUR
REPENTANCE!” And then he adds, “IT'S A CONTINUAL THING!” Read for
yourself what Mr. Comfort horribly teaches this woman, in this
transcript from the Living Waters video...
“So if the plane goes down, you'd end up in Hell! There are two things you have to do to be saved. Do you remember what they are? I told you what they are—You've got to repent and trust the Savior! ... God's offering you everlasting life upon your repentance and faith in Christ. Who in his right mind wouldn't say, 'Whoa! That's a good offer!' (The curious woman asks what it means to “repent”?)... Have you ever said you're sorry to someone you did something wrong to? That's all repentance is—You've sinned against God; it's a matter of saying, 'God, I'm sorry,' and then LIVING A LIFESTYLE that proves the reality of your repentance. That's what repentance is, it's a continual thing! God, 'I'm sorry, but I'm not going going to lie or steal or blaspheme Your name ever again. It has that attitude! And the second thing—trust in Jesus!” [emphasis added]

Dear reader, I triple-dog dare you to show me even one verse from the Holy Bible that teaches that “LIVING A LIFESTYLE” is required as part of being saved. You cannot! Now my friend, “a double-dog dare” is serious business, but a triple-dog dare is something you don't want to mess around with! I triple-dog dare you to show me even one Bible verse that agrees with these false statements by Ray Comfort.
Notice that Mormons say “repentance can be difficult,” just as John MacArthur's book titled “HARD TO BELIEVE.” In sharp contrast, the Hold Bible teaches in 2nd Corinthians 11:3, “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST.” The Bible teaches that salvation is simple in Christ. Mormons preach ANOTHER JESUS, ANOTHER GOSPEL AND ANOTHER SPIRIT that are all of the Devil. Matthew 11:28-30, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” I find nothing in the Scriptures that even remotely suggests salvation is hard. Salvation is simple. It is free! It is easy and offered to “whosoever will.” Revelation 22;17, “And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Men complicate things, but God does not! If you want to be saved, you may this moment by freely placing your trust, Oh sinner!, in the Good News of Christ crucified, buried and risen the third day. Jesus did that FOR YOU my friend, to pay for your debt of sin, so that you could be forgiven and have eternal life through faith in His precious blood!!! The choice is yours alone to make. Most men reject Him, but won't you receive the name of Jesus now, and be one of the few?
Wrong! Salvation
is receiving, not giving. Salvation is the gift of God, and a gift
cannot have stipulations. If Mr. Tozer is correct that salvation is
conditioned upon a willingness to turn from sins, then eternal life
CANNOT be a gift. Think about it! A gift by every definition is
completely free, with no strings attached! If I buy you a birthday gift,
but first require you to change some behavior, then it cannot truly be a
gift. Banks often falsely advertise giving a “gift” to people who open a
new account. It cannot be a gift, because you are required to open a new
account to receive it. That is a reward, not a gift. Salvation is not a
reward. It is not a contract, where you must meet certain obligations to
get it and keep it! Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but
the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord.” Nothing in life is free! That is what is meant
by “the gift of God is eternal life THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD”!
Jesus paid our sin debt!
